We did it and I could not be more proud! Design, Design Magazine has hit the shelves of the IPad Newstand today, September 13, 2012. Thank you to my AMAZING husband and publisher Matthew Miller and my dear friend and interior design mentor Richard W. Herb. This is the first interactive design magazine in the newstand. It has informational articles, really cool video and OF COURSE stunning beautiful photos of interior design.

A Magazine Made for Interior Designers By Interior Designers Launching This Month!

The launch of our online interior design magazine is quickly approaching and we are READY! My mentor, Richard W. Herb, and I have started what will be the first interactive interior design magazine in the iPad newsstand. It is all so VERY exciting that I can barely contain myself. Here’s a draft of the cover….What do you think???

Our magazine is titled “Design, Design” and as I have mentioned in the title it is a magazine for interior designers made by interior designers. Of course anyone who likes interior design will enjoy the magazine as well but our main demographic is the interior design community. We want all designers to read the magazine but we are also niching out to the up and coming generation of working interior designers who are gaining experience but do not have 30 years of it as Richard does.

Design, Design will serve the interior design community as does most design magazines but it will ALSO have a lot of value and education specifically geared towards designers. For example, each month we will be featuring a video training series with Richard giving away his knowledge and experience of 30 years to help newer designers get ahead in their business. And for the more experienced designers, each month I will be giving 1-2 social media video tips on how you should be bringing your business online. In addition, we have interior designers from all over the country contributing valuable, unique content pertaining to topics that are very relevant to our industry.

There is much more happening then what I have just explained, but of course I don’t want to give it ALL way!

We should be in the iPad Newstand sometime in September and we are hoping you will all support us and subscribe of course I will keep you posted and let you know as soon as possible. Also if you are an interior designer reading this and would like to contribute an article I would LOVE to hear from you.

Our Family Vacatation is Coming Soon……

I can’t believe it’s almost here! Our family vacation to Greece. This is a trip that has been planned even before the birth of our son, Luke. It has been my father’s dream to put together the Biggest Fattest Greek Baptism ever in the village where he grew up. So here we are….Luke is 18 months old now (a bit too old to be dunked in a basin butt naked in front of 200 people) and I am very curious to see how this is all going to go down. I have been in denial for weeks about preparing for our 30 hour door to door journey to a village at the top of a remote mountain with an 18 month old baby. It should be VERY interesting to say the least. The “best” part of this fiasco is that my dad also tricked me into something else…. this event that is to take place is not only a baptism…it is also going to be a wedding…YEP! I said it, another wedding.

Most of you who know me know that i have already had like 3 weddings but why not one more. Because according to my dad if we’re not married in the Greek Church, well, we’re not really married. How do you like that?! So there you have it! This has now become the Biggest, Fattest, Wedding/Baptism in the world as far as I am concerned. This will consume the first 2 weeks of my month in Greece and once it is over I hope to get some good ol’ fashioned R & R. Please don’t think I am not grateful because I totally am..I have the most amazing parents and family anyone could ever want….which is why I granting them this wish and going along with it regardless of how I would do it. Now that you all know what I will be up to this summer I am SURE you are going to want pictures and video so you can see how this all went down. Stay tuned to see them as I would never let you down. Until then Opa my friends!

The Perfect Night in Las Vegas

So last week my family and I had a work/family vacation in Las Vegas. My husband was there for the NAB conference and so we decided to stay the week and have family come in as well. It was quite the wonderful week! The last night there happened to be my 1st wedding anniversary with my hubby so we wanted to have a Vegas night out. First we got all dressed up…..

and went to see the show Absinthe which is playing at Caesar’s. I had NO IDEA really what to expect since I could not find any real information on what the show was exactly. All I could get out of people was that is was”racy, vulgar and could be offensive” UUUMM, OK! I mean come on it’s Vegas- it’s only appropriate. We arrive to this circular tent that is outside of the Caesar’s Hotel and take our general admission seats. The seating was also in a circular form with an ever so small stage in the center. We sat around and had some drinks while we waited for the show to start. And let me tell you, Absinthe GRABS you from the start! It’s all this acrobatic, tight rope, trapeze type stuff that is so amazing you can’t stop from being engaged…it would be quite impossible actually! The vulgarity and dirty jokes come from the emcee who is more than HYSTERICAL! After the amazing 90 minute show it was off to dinner at our VERY FAVORITE restaurant at the Venetian…….

TAO LAS VEGAS……and all I can say is YUMMMMMM!

So we the most delicious dinner and drinks ever. That is what I think what we love most about TAO. You always know you’re going to be more than satisfied every time. It was really a perfect night.

Interior Design Authority: The Mentor & Mentee Relationship

IDA and Door of Hope Update

The interior design charity project that the Interior Design Authority (IDA) has embarked on is moving forward! So far we have been to the Door of Hope (DOH) facility, measured the space, drawn up the floor plans in AutoCAD and chosen the theme and color palette. Next steps are putting together all of the specifications, lighting plan and elevations. There is lots to do but we are super excited! We have come up with some materials so that we can pass along to help our donation process.

There are 6 groups of 3 and this is my team. This flyer gives you a better idea of where our design visions is going. We have also written up a basic synopsis of who we are (IDA), who is the Door of Hope and our mission. Again to help us to solicit donation.
